BECOMING WATERWISE

2003

Once again we are continuing to cover water related activities each term. The continued lack of consistent heavy rain makes it essential that we keep the children focused on the efficient use of this vital resource.
For the third year in a row our year 6/7 class took part in the Murder Under The Microscope project. Check put our Catchment Management Plan.

2002

In 2002 we are continuing to cover water related activities each term to keep the children focused on the efficient use of this valuable resource.
We celebrated Water Week with a tabloid day. Children worked in groups to complete seven different activities. The chromotography experiment was very interesting.

2001

The yr 4/5 class was learning about water. First we painted the background then we put on the sun and clouds. Then we did the grass and water. the last thing we stuck on were the stickers.Tobi.

This is our water table chart. It shows how water goes up and comes down again. Wes.
We built a filter which filters dirty water. We cut the bottom off adrink bottle and filled it up with charcoal. we put a hose in the end and filled it with water. After 10 minutes we drained it. Corry.
This year in term one we made our own filter. We tested it and some of the water came out oily and some was clear. It was a fun activity. Tom.
We talked about how important it is to swim between the flags at the beach.
The lifeguards or lifesavers help us when we are in trouble.
This term in science we have been learning about water. We had a plastic container with holes in it and we put sticky tape over the holes. When we pulled the tape off the water squirted out. Brittany.

We were trying to balance the water. I had a small container. Daniel.

This term we have been making water evaporate and doing lots of water experiments. We have been discovering about what water is used for. We planted sunflowers. Chris.

This term we have done lots with water. We measured water. Joshua.

Murder Under The Microscope was a detective game. We had to find out what was killing the plants. Michael.
Steven and I made little people out of water and bread crumbs. We dried them and painted them. We made towels as well. Tim.

The change rooms at the beach were made out of cardboard. Paul.

The 6/7 kids made little clay men out of bread crumbs and water. We also made towels to lie down on the beach. Renee.

The little men were made out of bread crumbs, water and glue. We let them dry for a week. Paul.
In term three we did poems on water and I did a poem on conserving water. Katharine.
This is me syphoning water out of a container into a bucket. The best activity was making lemonaide. It was really nice. Tim.
We celebrated Water Week with exciting activities like syphoning and bubble blowing. I enjoyed making lemonaide. Jesinta.

I made a lego hotel and put it in a container of water. It floated and I won. Scott. .

On the 16th of November, we bacame the sixty first WATER WISE SCHOOL in Western Australia. Everyone worked very hard to achieve this goal. Special thanks to Mrs Pearson, our Water Wise coordinator.
